Technical crisis in the modern world

It is well known fact, that humanist professions are very profitable today. Since school a lot of young people believe this work to be very promising. With such an opinion they are educated in their families, go to high school, to a institute and finally they begin bringing up their own children that way. Blind alley.
Why is it so? What do make people think that manual operations have lost their popularity?
There are several causes.
first modern machinery reached such a high degree of progress that the majority of people is capable of operating it without having specialized technical education. thereby there is no need for subsequent spreading of engineering skill. Humanits use starts dominating in all spheres of life.
second it is an actual fact that we are in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They prefer to describe everything and use products, but not to produce something by themselves. Of course this phenomenon does not affect positively on spreading of technical education. People are simply not interested in it.
In the third place is the fact that the resource base has got such a degree of desolation that we often have no place for work after learning the theory.
Finally a very important thing is the policy of the government. What professions does it promote as called-for nowadays? We can easily get to know it by watching our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what specialities do they popularize now? It is easy to prove that they are full of non-technical images. Mass-media display us pleasant, nice way of life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a in the issue?
Lack of skilled workers in the engineering sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a high-powered jointer planer. This will lead to a dangerous situation when we will be lacking very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally ruined. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no qualified teachers able to educate worthy personnel working in technical spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our state do in order to correct the condition? it is clear that there are several actions to be taken. First of all our state should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs perspectives. Then our country should apply efforts in order to popularize engineering professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to preserve engineering specialities is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
